    Qualification

    Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling

I am a fully qualified psychodynamic counsellor, having gone through rigorous, BACP-accredited training. I have also obtained additional training for providing therapy online and over the phone. Continuous professional development is important to me, so I regularly educate myself in different areas through further training or studies.

As a registered member with the BACP I adhere to the professional standards and ethical framework of this governing body. My register number is 414398 and you can find me on the BACP therapist directory.

    Location

    Basingstoke and Online/Phone

I work from a calm room in a shared practice near Basingstoke Hospital. The location just off the A339 allows for convenient access from around Basingstoke, Chineham, Lychpit and Old Basing, and surrounding villages such as Sherborne St. John, Tadley, Bramley, Sherfield on Loddon, Oakley, or Hook.

    Accessibility and Parking

There are a couple of stairs to the front door, restricting the accessibility of the space. Inside, a lift provides easier access to our room on the first floor. Limited parking spaces are available and free of charge. Directions and details are given once an initial meeting is agreed. We can also explore the option to work either fully online or over the phone.

  • Before we begin our work together, I offer an initial 15 minute conversation free of charge, in which we can discuss availability, fees, and any questions you may have. Take a look at “Next steps” to read about the process in more detail.

  • Each session lasts 50 minutes and the fee per session is £60 . Sessions take place once-weekly, at the same time. This can be open-ended or time-limited, depending on your needs.

  • While the initial consultation is a little more structured, so that we can cover important information, the ongoing sessions are yours to shape within our agreed framework. You can bring what feels important in that moment and we will explore this together.

  • Working psychodynamically, I'm curious, straightforward, and honest - I'll engage with what you're actually saying, and I'll gently challenge you when it's helpful. I work both intuitively and intellectually, and I think the most important thing I do is listen carefully, including to what might be harder to put into words. Sessions are a space where you can think out loud, make connections, and gradually make sense of things that might have felt confusing or overwhelming. My hope is that you'll feel able to talk openly without it feeling awkward.

  • Anything said in a session is confidential, unless your safety or that of others appears to be severely at risk.

As part of practicing ethically, I attend regular supervision, in which I discuss aspects of my work. This takes place within a confidential space, so that all information is treated professionally and ethically.

We will talk about confidentiality in more detail when we meet.

  • Contemplating counselling and choosing a therapist can feel like such a daunting venture. I would like to offer you some reassurance: an initial chat comes with no obligations and you can’t do it wrong. Whether you speak with several therapists or stick with the first one you speak to - the path is uniquely yours and therefore the right one. Do have a look at “How to choose a counsellor” for some more inspiration.
